We represent tenants and landlords, in both residential and commercial matters. We prosecute all types of holdovers (lease violations and breaches including violation of certificate of occupancies, illegal use and alterations and other building code issues, illegal subletting, AirBnB issues, etc.) and non-payment matters.
We know that litigation is expensive so we aim to help our clients resolve disputes quickly and as cost effective as possible. Where disputes cannot be resolved pre-trial or hearing, we pursue litigation aggressively with the goal of having the most favorable outcome for the client.
We also work closely with management companies and condo and co-op boards in resolving rent control leasing issues. We are also up to speed with the June 2019 overhaul of the New York Rent Laws and will protect your rights now while the constitutionality of that law is sorted out.
Special Matters We Can Also Represent You On (click to expand)
• Tenant Buyout
• Allegation of Rent Overcharge
• Single Room Occupancies (“SROs” or Class B Units)
We also defend against actions initiated by The Department of Housing Preservation and Development in Housing Court against owners of privately-owned buildings concerning the Multiple Dwelling Law and the New York City Housing Maintenance Code.
